Groff Store and House - Leola, PA
This project is in: All Projects, Museums and Historic Sites
We were asked by the Ressler Mill Foundation to explore the feasibility of converting an 1835 farmhouse and general store into a center for the study of milling history and local farming culture. Through archival research and physical evidence on site, we were able to reconstruct the building’s original fenestration and wrap-around porch, both of which had been lost during a twentieth-century remodeling. Along with a comprehensive exterior rehabilitation program, we developed complete site and interior adaptive reuse plans for the building, and are aiding the Foundation in adding the property to the National Register of Historic Places.
