• Existing building prior to renovation. Street level was covered up with modern artificial materials in a 1960s conversion to a TV repair shop.
  • Selective demolition of the 1960s cover-up materials exposed the c.1890 storefront and revealed that much of the old building remained intact while concealed from view for half a century.
  • Doors from salvage supply selected to fit existing doorway dimensions.

Commercial Corner Renovations and Storefront Reconstruction

Faced with major exterior repair needs to address water infiltration and deteriorating cladding materials, we helped this owner re-discover and then very affordably reconstruct the historic storefront and stair hall entrance, concealed for 50 years by 1960s alterations. In the process, we added significant long-term value to the existing commercial shop space, and returned the corner’s 19th c. architectural scale and character to the neighborhood.
